Overview

Mount Toubkal is the highest mountain in North Africa, at 4,167m. Climbing Mount Toubkal is challenging, but it requires no mountaineering experience and the panoramic view from he summit makes all the hard work worthwhile.

With the start of the trek just a couple of hours drive from Marrakech, you can reach the summit and back within 2 days and still have time to explore Morocco’s most captivating city, Marrakech.


Itinerary

Day 1:

After your transfer from Marrakech to Imlil (1,780m), you will set off an a 6 hour trek out of the Imlil Valley and into the Azzadene Valley. Along the way you will pass Tizi N’Mzik at 2,450m, the refuge at Azib n’Tansoult and the Ighouliden waterfalls. Overnight in the Lipeney mountain refuge at 3,000m ( or before at Azib n Tamsoult).

Day 2:

Today involves a fairly stiff climb out of the Azzadene Valley to the Toubkal Refuge over the Aguelzim Mountain pass at 3,560m. Lunch will be taken with spectacular views over the Atlas Mountain Range. Overnight in the Toubkal Refuge (Niltner Hut) where you’ll likely be sharing a bunk room with other trekkers tackling Toubkal early the next morning

Day 3:

Up early for the Climbing Mt Toubkal (4,167m) from where, clouds allowing, you’ll have wonderful views over the Atlas Range and the Sahara Desert then a long way back down past the refuge and the well-worn path back to Imlil. This is a fairly long day with 8-9 hours of trekking, involving 900m up then almost 2,500m back down to Imlil! You will normally be dropped off at around 5.00pm in Marrakech.

Private Toubkal treks

Minimum of 2 Adults required for private treks. Children under 10 years old can join private treks for 50% of the Adult price. 1 child aged under 5 years old can participate for free.


Shared Toubkal treks 3 days

We have a selection of dates for shared Toubkal treks. The shared Toubkal treks enable you to join an existing group. We operate the shared Toubkal treks on set days each month. If you don’t find the date that you require, you can ask us to start a new shared trek for the date that you require.

The shared Toubkal treks offer you the opportunity to join a group and join the trek at the discounted group rates.

The prices depend upon how many people also book the same date:

A minimum of 3 people are required for a shared Toubkal trek to operate on each date.

2 or 3 people participating: 180.00 Euro per person

4 people participating: 150.00 Euro per person

5 to 12 people participating: 140.00 Euro per person.

You pay the total amount of the trek cost when you make your reservation. In the event that we do not achieve a minimum of 2 people on the same date, you will then recieve a full refund instantly.

If more people book the shared trek for the same date, then you will recieve a discount. The difference between the amount that you have paid and the discount amount is paid to you automatically when you have completed your activity.
